Left-leaning ideologues running the country’s teachers unions accidentally exposed themselves when they made millions of schoolchildren stay home and gave parents a front row seat to the propaganda their militant members insinuate in lesson plans.
Teachers’ union leaders have tried to indoctrinate children for years into their left-leaning political worldview.
They believed that President Ronald Reagan was more dangerous to the Soviet Union than they were in the 1980s. Children were taught that pollution would cause acid rain and burn their skin. Modern students are now taught that their parents do not have to know if their children were born with a set chromosomes that they do not identify with.
Teachers’ union leaders have become more militant over the years due to decades of monopolistic control on school boards and leftist lesson plan design.
The Union’s priorities include imposing unrealistic and unhealthy COVID regulations, teaching children to judge people based on their skin color rather than their content, and making explicit sexual content available at school libraries. This was previously banned from community school board meetings.
It’s no surprise that national tests have revealed that K-12 reading and math scores are at their lowest level since the 1990s. America’s 2022 high school graduates had the lowest average college entrances tests in over 30 years.
A poll conducted by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), revealed that nine out of ten respondents felt schools are too politicized. Another 40% of respondents indicated they might leave the profession within two years and three quarters said they wouldn’t recommend it to others.
Randi Weingarten, AFT President, is the perfect person to blame if she’s looking for someone else to blame. Students struggling to learn any value under the current arrangement, and teachers disillusioned about being told to indoctrinate instead of educate, Weingarten decided last Wednesday was the right time to take a photo in war-torn Ukraine.
After threatening to close down schools in the country due to COVID fears, Weingarten decided to open up in-person makeshift schools to allow Ukrainian children to continue learning in a classroom.
A few years back, teachers who were well-intentioned had no choice but to resist the teacher’s union propaganda in quiet ways in their classrooms while seeing a portion of their paycheck go to support a political agenda that they did not support.
This changed in 2018, when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that union dues are political speech and in Janus v. American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, (AFSCME), that public employees can’t be made to support a union financially as a condition of employment.
Although the news spread slowly at the beginning, it has gained momentum and teachers are abandoning their unions in droves.
California Teachers Association (CTA), is undoubtedly the most powerful state teacher’s union in the country and continues to be the largest exporter of cash for government union campaigns across the country.
While the rest of America may not be able to see the damage that one-party rule has caused to this once-lovely state, California’s political influence can still be felt in races across the country, including Georgia and Pennsylvania.
Before the Janus decision, which affirmed teachers could refuse to support radical unions’ politics, the CTA had 310,000 members in 2018. Today, that number is 280,000. This represents a loss of over 30,000 members and $36million a year in dues revenue. Much of this would have gone into campaign coffers for elected officials who would support Big Labor.
Teachers are learning that they have the right to not support this nonsense with their paychecks. They’re now using the money to fuel their cars and buy food, rather than to fund the extravagant lifestyles and leftist politics their union leaders.
