Tucker Carlson, Fox News’ Fox News host, had an idea Friday night for what to do with the Stephen Colbert crew members who were taken into custody at the Capitol without authorization and after hours.

Carlson tweeted, “Stephen Colbert’s producers have committed insurrection in the US Capitol,” and suggested that Colbert’s staffers be placed in “solitary confinement”, for one year and a quarter, in accordance with the Jan. 6 precedent.

Carlson said, “We learned last night that producers for Stephen Colbert’s CBS show committed insurrection against the United States Capitol.” “The purpose of them being there is to harass sitting members Congress — Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert.”

Carlson noted then that the Colbert crew had been charged with unlawful entry to the Capitol. He observed, “That’s exactly the same charge that many January 6-defendants face.” “We’ll just get to it: It’s possible that Stephen Colbert’s staff will be kept in solitary confinement for at least a year without being charged. Why? This is because it’s an insurrection.”

Carlson said, “Joking aside. How could they not have been held for a whole year and a quarter in solitary confinement with no charges?” Because the precedent is in effect. How in the world Adam Schiff, who spent the past year and a quarter eliminating civil liberties for Trump voters on January 6 and did not face any punishment, can do the exact same thing again?

Although it won’t happen, it’s an excellent idea. Republicans should insist on this, if only to expose Trump supporters’ cruel treatment by their government.
