In a letter to Rep. Andy Biggs, the Biden administration acknowledged that it had lost track of almost 20,000 unaccompanied migrant kids since January 2021.
“Of the 108.981 Safety and Well-Being calls made since January 2021 for children discharged orally from ORR care, there were 19,726 sponsors who couldn’t be reached,” states Acting Assistant Secretary Jennifer Cannistra of Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
They don’t plan to search for them.
“Orders’ custodial responsibilities cease when a child leaves ORR care. However, ORR provides post-release services for children and sponsors who would be benefitted from continuing connections to community services.” Biggs received a letter on February 24. ORR is able to follow up by phone even though it does not have legal custody of a child after they are discharged.
“It took HHS five months to reply to my letter, and they admitted that they have lost track of almost 20,000 unaccompanied alien children.” Biggs tweeted that it was even more troubling because they don’t seem to be too concerned about it.

This is especially concerning as thousands of children from migrant families were taken into the hands of sex traffickers during the Obama administration. The Washington Post reported in January 2016 that the Obama administration had failed to protect thousands upon thousands of Central American children, who have flooded over the U.S. borders since 2011. This has left them vulnerable to traffickers as well as abuse by government-approved caregivers.
Obama and Biden said that the Office of Refugee Resettlement failed to conduct background checks on those who claimed the children. Sponsors were allowed to take custody of several unrelated children and frequently placed the children in homes without ever visiting their locations.
Biden’s children disappeared. Are they sex trafficked or have they? It is possible that they have been sex trafficked, and the Biden administration doesn’t feel any responsibility for their safety, so I’m not surprised we won’t know how many. It happened under the Obama administration. And it’s likely that it’s happening under the Biden-Harris government. Heather Robinson, a journalist, predicted that Biden’s policies on border issues would lead to an increase in the child sex trade in April 2021.
