After Simon Ateba, an Africa News Today reporter, asked Karine Jean Pierre why she doesn’t call certain reporters at the White House press briefing, Monday’s proceedings got off to a turbulent start.
Ateba was almost immediately called to inquire why Jean-Pierre doesn’t call on certain reporters “across” the room after seven months.
Jean-Pierre stated, “No, no. We’re not doing that.” “We are not doing this. We’re also not doing that.
Ateba shouted, “This is not China, Russia, or this not Russia. What you are doing, you are making a mockery your profession.” It’s been seven years.”
Others shouted down Ateba calling for “decorum”, while another shouted “let’s go!”
Jean-Pierre and members of the “Ted Lasso” cast spoke next. Jean-Pierre was then prompted to correct the briefing room about proper etiquette after Ateba once more called out.
Ateba, arguing with a reporter on the front row, said that “there are people in back who don’t get any questions.”
“Be respectful when you’re here,” said a reporter in the front.
