New Presidential Poll Has DeSantis Ahead of Donald Trump in Hypothetical Head-to-Head

America is starting to take the next election cycle more seriously as the Republican field starts to see its first rivals step up.

In November, President Trump was the first candidate who officially threw his hat into the ring. Nikki Haley is now pursuing her bid for the White House. Vivek Ramaswamy, a manager at an investment firm, has also joined the race.

At the moment, Republican voter enthusiasm seems to point to a matchup that isn’t even certain at this stage – Donald Trump against Rick DeSantis. Even left-wing media is curious about how they will do in a head-to-head.

A poll of likely GOP voters was released on Thursday and shows DeSantis leading the pack among potential candidates.

WPA Intelligence, a survey and data analysis firm, has done key polling on big campaigns such as Glenn Youngkin’s gubernatorial campaign and Ted Cruz’s presidential run in 2016.

The latest snapshot poll, which surveyed 1,000 verified Republican voters, shows DeSantis leading at 40%. This is 9 points more than President Trump, and miles ahead of Nikki Haley (who tied at 8%). These were the scores of the rest of the likely candidates:

  • Liz Cheney – 5%
  • Mike Pompeo – 5%
  • Marco Rubio – 2%
  • Larry Hogan – 1%
  • Tim Scott – 1%

A two-way race analysis was also conducted in the poll, with Trump leading DeSantis by 18 points at 55%.

Trump and DeSantis are two standouts among Republican voters, who want their politicians to fight back against the far-left progressive agenda. Both have made impressive progress in this area in their short time in public view. DeSantis is currently in office and has more recent wins in the cultural arena. During his term, Trump made great strides. If the Florida Governor is elected, it will be interesting to see how GOP loyalty pans out.
