According to investigators, Massachusetts police are appealing to the public for help locating a child rape suspect on the run. He is believed to be with his five- and seventeen-year-old children.
According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Leon Mejia (also known as Leon Mejia Vincente) is being sought for the rape and sexual abuse of a minor.
“Mejia Vicente is a citizen from Guatemala who was up until recently living in New Bedford along with his two minor children,” said the attorney’s office in a statement.
The statement said that the children were considered to be endangered because of their current location.
Prosecutors claim they want to find the children as soon as possible.
Anyone with information about Mejia Vicente’s whereabouts should call the Massachusetts State Police or New Bedford Police.
Investigators state that Mejia Vincente is 46 years of age and should not be approached.
New Bedford is a town in southeastern Massachusetts that is approximately 60 miles south of Boston and about 30 miles east of Providence (Rhode Island).
