Gov. Sarah Sanders Takes on the Cheneys and Fellow ‘Republicans’ for Backing Harris

Liz Cheney’s 15 Minutes was up several years ago. To borrow the famous phrase of the late pop artist and filmmaking genius Andy Warhol. She persists in her seemingly single-minded goal: to demonize former President Donald Trump and to do whatever she can to stop voters from returning him in November to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

ABC News, in a show of support for the efforts of this group, featured the disgraced former Wyoming Republican Congresswoman as the opening guest Sunday on its “This Week” program. I won’t go through all the lies Cheney told during her interview with Jon Karl. But one particular detail stood out to me.

This segment of questioning began with Karl asking her if she still considered herself a Republican because she said she would leave the GOP if Trump were the nominee.

She flatly stated that she’s “a conservative…[I’ve] been a lifelong Republican…I’m certainly not a Trump Republican.”

Listen to what she says. It’s so clever, I would have never believed it if I hadn’t seen it for myself. The host asked Cheney how she would react to Republicans who “absolutely insist they are not supporting Donald Trump, but they won’t take the next step; they will write someone in.”

He mentions Mitt Romney and Mike Pence as well as former Governors. Larry Hogan, R-MD.

Watch:

You know, you have to go the extra mile, especially if you are going to be voting in a state that is a swing. You can’t just say that you won’t vote for Donald Trump if you’re concerned about the danger he poses.

It would be better to have as many people out there making the argument as possible. You have to deal with your conscience in the voting booth.

In November, voting for Donald Trump, or writing in someone else, means you have taken the same decision that many Republican elected officials made, which is — to abandon the Constitution. You are telling yourself that it is just a partisan, you know choice.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the former press secretary for the Trump administration in Arkansas, had to react to Cheney. She didn’t give a flimsy response. That would have been fine. I’ll get to that in a moment.

Sanders gave viewers an insider’s preview of the debate on Tuesday and explained why she believes we’re not hearing much about Trump, but rather pages and pages on Harris’ preparation for the debate:

She’s not a good debater and is wrong about issues that Americans are concerned about. Her track record also makes her unfit to take on this challenge.

She said that the contrast could not be more clear: “Donald Trump is a man with a story to tell.” He comes to this debate with a strong position.”

The best part was this. She spoke for many of us conservatives, about what these endorsements by a progressive Democrat say about Cheney and Never Trump “Republicans.”

Watch:

I think she is in the majority. You can see that prominent Republicans support President Trump but I believe she is a non-factor. It’s not meant to be rude but it’s hard to call yourself conservative or Republican if you’re supporting the most radical candidate that the Democrats ever presented.

This doesn’t automatically make you conservative or Republican. I think you are someone who is trying to protect the established order.

She said that it’s not a “shock”, “news”, or “information” that Cheney does not support Trump. “But, what should be shocking is that she’s trying to call herself a conservative Republican, or either of these two words while supporting someone who so obviously doesn’t represent conservative principles.”

Did the line about the establishment make you shiver? It did for me. It’s exactly how it should be done. We need to hear more from our side about the many forces against which we must battle to turn the country around.
