Rep. Jamaal “Squad Member” Bowman lost the primary election against George Latimer, in New York’s sixteenth district. Latimer is a moderate Democrat in contrast to Bowman who advocates leftist policies like the Green New Deal. The race was hotly contested and it was the most expensive House primaries in American history.

Bowman tried everything to keep this seat. He even called Latimer racist and a MAGA supporter. Bowman brought in Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, (D-NY), and Sen. Bernie Sanders, (I-VT), to try and revive his campaign. But it failed, and the GOP has been having a field day with Bowman’s defeat.

Rep. Thomas Massie, R-KY, who met Bowman in the halls at Congress posted:

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-NY, had the following to say about Bowman’s defeat:

Lee Zeldin, former New York congressman and gubernatorial nominee, commented on Bowman’s defeat:

Rep. Mike Collins, R-GA, also slammed Bowman’s actions for pulling the alarm thinking that it would “open up the door”.

Bowman’s story might have been different if he had focused on the needs of his constituents, avoided antisemitic remarks, and done the job for which he was hired. We have seen other incumbents who were vulnerable win elections over the years. Bowman has made the bed and now must sleep on it.

Bowman claimed that the “brainwashing” of the voters by the advertisements was the reason he lost.

Cori Bush, D-MO, could be the most vulnerable. This election will take place in August.
