Special Counsel John Durham is currently investigating FBI abuses in the Russigate investigation. This happens to be because the FBI division that investigated Trump’s handlings of classified material was the subject of the FBI division’s oversight.
Peter Strozk was fired as Crossfire Hurricane’s leader. However, “some members of his team” are still working in the counterintelligence unit. Sources say that this is despite the fact that they are being investigated by Durham and the bureau’s disciplinary arm, The Office of Professional Responsibility.
In texts, Strozk told Lisa Page, a fellow FBI official in the famous statement that the Russia probe was an “insurance plan” for Trump’s election.
According to recent correspondence between Christopher Wray, FBI Director, and the Senate Judiciary Committee, Brian Auten, a Crossfire team member, was also involved in politically sensitive investigations. This included the ongoing federal probe into potentially incriminating material found on the laptop of President Biden’s child Hunter Biden. FBI whistleblowers claim that Auten attempted to falsely discredit the derogatory evidence against Hunter Biden in the 2020 campaign, labeling it Russian “disinformation” which caused investigation to stop.
Auten was allowed to continue working on sensitive cases despite being under internal investigation since 2019, when Justice Department inspector General Michael Horowitz referred Auten for disciplinary review. Horowitz had referred Auten for review for his role as a vetting agent for the Hillary Clinton-funded dossier that was used by FBI to obtain wiretap warrants to spy upon Carter Page, former Trump campaign adviser. Horowitz singled Auten out for omitting to verify the dossier and even allowing incorrect information to slip into warrant affidavits, misleading the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act Court.
Sources also told RealClearInvestigations that the top counterintelligence officer who has been coordinating the investigation of Mar-a-Lago with the FBI’s counterintelligence division is a Democratic National Committee donor named Jay Bratt.
Bratt visited Mar-a-Lago early June. According to the report, he personally inspected the storage facility, and interacted directly with Trump and one his lawyers.
