Senior Pentagon officials have predicted a “significant escalation of attacks” against American troops during the Israel-Hamas conflict.
On Monday, a senior defense official and senior military official gave a background presentation. Both officials referred to Iran as a malignant power.
The official said, “We expect a much greater escalation in the short term against U.S. personnel and forces.” “And, let’s not be confused: the road will lead back to Iran.”
The official said that Iran is also currently funding, equipping, and directing Middle Eastern partners including Hezbollah militias in Lebanon.
The official stated that “Iran’s fingerprints are all over this increase in activity by many of these terrorist groups.”
