On the basis of Trump’s recent comments to Barak Raviv, an Israeli journalist, liberal Jewish outlets and the media are accusing him of anti-Semitism.
People in this country who are not Jewish love Israel more than Jews. I will tell you that evangelical Christians love Israel more than the Jews in this country. It used to be that Israel held absolute power over Congress. Today, I believe it’s the opposite. That’s what I believe [former President Barack] Obama did, and [President Joe] Biden did.
“And yet, in the election, they still get many votes from Jewish people. This tells you that the Jewish population in the United States – and I’ve been saying this for a while – either doesn’t like Israel or doesn’t care about Israel. You can see that The New York Times hates Israel. They hate them. They’re Jewish people running The New York Times. I am referring to the Sulzberger family.
Cringeworthy is the line about “absolute control over Congress”. It is an anti-Semitic trope. Trump is a philosemite, an anti-Semite who likes Jews. Trump harbors anti-Semitic views about the extent and power of Jewish people. He is still a friend of Israel’s Jewish people. An Israeli politician asked me my opinion on Trump before the 2016 election. Full disclosure: I worked as a reporter for Ted Cruz in 2016. I replied, “Imagine Hitler liked Jews!” and published the malicious comment. However, I voted twice for Trump and supported him against the Deep State plot to overthrow him. There are anti-Semites as well as anti-Semites. But I’ll get to that.
Trump was the most pro-Israel president in history.  None of his predecessors (and certainly not his successor, President Joe Biden) came close. He stopped US financial support to the Palestinian Authority and closed down Washington’s representative office of the PLO because Abbas funds and incites terror.
Pew Survey, an authoritative survey of American Jews’ attitudes toward Israel published a poll earlier in the year. Only 34% of American Jewish adults strongly oppose boycotts, divestment, and sanctions against Israel. Only 33% of Americans say that the Israeli government truly wants peace. 60% of Americans say they share “some” or “a lot” with Israel. Translation: The liberal American Jews will have a certain amount of positive sentiment towards Israel if Israel is willing to commit suicide in order to live up to their fantasies of a Jewish state. It doesn’t matter that successive Israeli governments offered the Arabs 90% of the things they requested, but had to close the door on them.
Israeli bayonets keep the Fatah faction, which is supposedly moderate, alive for Palestinians. If it were to go it alone, it would be overthrown by Hamas just as it did in Gaza in 2007. Hamas has committed more than 80 terrorist attacks on Israel and killed approximately 1,000 Israelis. Hamas demands jihad to end Israel’s existence and rejects any negotiation.
This means Israel must maintain control over Judea and Samaria (the so-called West Bank), which lie within rocket range from Tel Aviv, Ben Gurion Airport, and other critical infrastructure. It would be suicide to return to 1948 armistice lines. 90% of Arabs are under the political control and direction of the Palestinian Authority. However, Israel is forced to direct a small percentage of the Arab population. This can sometimes be quite distressing. This offends liberal American Jews’ universalist sensibilities.
The majority of American Jews say to Israel, however, that they have some sentimental attachment, but they think you’re wicked warmongers who won’t stop economic strangulation attempts on your life.”
Trump is wrong about American Jews. The United States would not be able to support Israel without the help of evangelical Christians and other Christians, including many Catholics.
Trump’s antisemitic views: There is anti-Semitism and anti-Semitism. There are many forms of anti-Jewish prejudice, which include exaggerated views about Jewish power. Many non-Jews don’t like us. It doesn’t matter to me if they like us or not. There is also a universalist obsession that abhors Jews because they have lived for almost 4,000 years, while the rest of the human race has disappeared. We serve as a reminder that not only are we a reminder of mortality, but also of the existence of nations. The norm is not universal illumination but national extinction. Some parts of the Muslim world want collective suicide and we won’t support them in that endeavor — as liberals demand.
