Bryan Randall was Sandra Bullock’s long-time husband and life partner. He died on Saturday after a three-year battle with ALS. Bryan Randall was only 57.
“It is with great sadness that we share that on August 5th Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a 3-year battle with ALS,” his family said in a statement.
They added, “Bryan made the decision early to keep his ALS experience private and we tried our best to honor his request.”
“We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours. At this time we ask for privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan.”
His family asked that donations to ALS Research and Massachusetts General Hospital be made instead of flowers and gifts.
Bullock is a model and Randall is a photographer. They have been dating since 2015. According to People magazine, the couple met for the first time in January 2015, when Randall was hired by Bullock to photograph his son’s party.
Bullock briefly discussed her relationship with Randall in December 2021 on “Red Table Talk”.
“I found the love of my life. We share two beautiful children – three children, [Randall’s] older daughter. It’s the best thing ever,” the actress said at the time.
Bullock is the mother of two children: Louis (13), and Laila (10). Bryan also had a daughter Skylar from a previous relationship.
“I don’t want to say do it as I do it, but I don’t need a paper to be a devoted partner and devoted mother,” she said, addressing the topic of marriage. “I don’t need to be told to be ever present in the hardest of times. I don’t need to be told to weather a storm with a good man.”
