Bruce Springsteen’s Gloomy Performance Leaves Fans Divided at Kamala Rally

Bruce Springsteen has been vilified, but his “Born to Run”, “Born in the USA”, and “Born to Run II” albums were a staple of my 1980s radio life. Later, I learned that the song “Born In The USA” is not at all pro-America. It’s actually about a Vietnam veteran returning home and finding his prospects for life grim. Many people still think that it is one of the patriotic rock songs. It’s not.

I’ve long since tired of his politics, regardless of whether I like his old songs. He seemed to have sunk to a new level on Thursday when he delivered a dark and fear-mongering address at a Clarkston, Georgia rally packed with celebrities for Kamala Harris’ struggling campaign. Then he sang a mournful, out-of-tune version of “Dancing in the Dark,” his hit from 1984.

He declared that Trump was a “tyrant”

This was his unifying message:

Bruce Springsteen warned that Donald Trump was a “would-be tyrant” and urged voters not to support him in the upcoming presidential election.

Springsteen stated at the rally on Thursday night, “I want a President who respects the Constitution, who doesn’t threaten but wants to protect, guide and maintain our great democracy. I also want a President who believes in the rule of law, and peaceful transfer of power and will fight for the right of women to choose.

He could not relate to the middle class anymore.

The constant “tyrant Hitler” talk is becoming increasingly annoying, especially since progressives simply make the accusation but do not back it up. Trump led the free world for 4 years, and he showed none of those tendencies that progressives are always pointing out.

If you didn’t agree with the message of his song, it was even worse. He sounded as if he was being throttled and, without the E Street Band, he appeared utterly punless and adrift.

Internet users have sent out many messages, such as this:

I wonder too if Bruce knew he was attending a rally at which you are supposed to get people excited? Look at the lyrics.

I get up in the evenin’
And I ain’t got nothin’ to say
I come home in the mornin’
I go to bed feelin’ the same way
I ain’t nothin’ but tired
Man, I’m just tired and bored with myself
Hey there, baby, I could use just a little help

It makes me want Tim Walz and Kamala Harris to win. Was it just me or did it seem a bit odd to hear him scream about his lust?

Hey baby, I’m just about starvin’ tonight
I’m dyin’ for some action
I’m sick of sittin’ ’round here tryin’ to write this book
I need a love reaction

Celebrities are certainly a part of the extremist Harris campaign, but will bleak performances such as this one attract voters who struggle to pay their grocery bills? I don’t think they will.
