Joe Biden has publicly boasted about his 2016 pressure on then-Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko, using a $1 Billion loan from the Obama Administration to force him to fire Viktor Shokin as Prosecutor general. According to new evidence, Biden did the exact opposite of what Department of Justice officials desired.
According to DOJ Ukraine has made enough progress in anti-corruption and deserves the loan. Just The News:
The Interagency Policy Committee, a task force created to advise the Obama White House about whether Ukraine had cleaned up its corruption problem and deserved additional Western aid, stated in a memo dated Oct. 1, 2015.
Just the News has compiled several U.S. government memoranda over the past 36 months, based on Freedom of Information Act litigations, congressional inquiries, and government agency source documents. These memos directly contradict the long-held narrative, that Joe Biden conducted official U.S. policies when he threatened to withhold a $1 billion U.S. guarantee in order to force Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin to resign, the country’s equivalent of the American Attorney General.
Shokin, when Joe Biden threatened to withhold $1 billion from Hunter Biden, was investigating Burisma, the energy company Hunter Biden sat on the board for making $1 million per year and had paid both Bidens each $5 million in a bribe, to end the investigation.
Biden boasted about his actions in 2018 at the Council on Foreign Relations.
“They were walking out to a press conference. I said, nah, … we’re not going to give you the billion dollars. They said, ‘You have no authority. You’re not the president—the president said,’” Biden recalled during a speech. “I said, ‘Call him.’ I said, ‘I’m telling you, you’re not getting the billion dollars.’ I said, ‘You’re not getting the billion. … I looked at them and said, ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money.’ Well, son of a b****. He got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time.”
Memos obtained by Just The News show that officials from the Obama administration’s State Department invited Shokin to Washington to attend a strategy meeting and were “impressed” by his work. Burisma emissaries were actually the ones who pressed U.S. officials for them to drop corruption accusations against their company due to concerns over potential bribery payments made to get Shokin to leave. The memos show that an official from the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv blamed Hunter Biden, a senior U.S. official, for undermining U.S. policy against corruption in Ukraine due to what he did at Burisma.
The memos make it clear that Joe Biden did not act on behalf of his administration when he pressured Ukrainian officials into firing Shokin. He was acting to protect him and his son Hunter who were each allegedly bribed with five million dollars to protect Burisma.
