Well, now. Isn’t this fascinating? We reported that the FBI took the phone of Scott Perry, a Republican from Pennsylvania, who was a strong Trump ally and the head of the conservative House Freedom Caucus. This happened the day following the FBI raid at the Mar-a-Lago home of former President Donald Trump.
How things change when you win the majority in the House of Representatives.
Perry said to ABC News’ “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos that he may be interested in joining a House committee to investigate the FBI and other federal agencies. This includes the same investigators who probed him. Karma? Karma? Or maybe something else?
As I reported, McCarthy, as part of negotiations to secure sufficient votes to win, agreed to form a Church-style commission to investigate alleged abuses committed by the FBI, National Security Council, and the CIA in recent years.
According to Reuters, Perry has maintained that Trump stole the 2020 presidential election through voter fraud. Perry said to Stephanopoulos that he does not see any conflict of interest in participating in an FBI investigation by Congress.
Why should I be restricted? Is it fair to limit someone just for making an accusation? America’s innocent people are those who have not been proven guilty.
Every day I am accused of many things, just like every other member of the public. However, that does not stop you from performing your job. It is our responsibility. It is also my duty.
Perry was not simply accused of something. A timeline of Perry’s texts with Mark Meadows, former Trump Chief Of Staff, shows that Perry worked to overturn the election. Meadows also created a “cyberteam” to do this. Meadows gave the texts over to the Jan.6 Committee during its “investigation.”
Here’s the question:
Should Perry resign from the FBI investigation because he continues to claim that Trump stole the 2020 election? Should Perry be asked to join the committee?
It seems to me that Perry should not be excluded from a committee to examine the investigation of Trump’s candidacy for the presidency.
