Four comedians have been canceled from a Seattle club for refusing to perform after residents complained.

As reported by 770 KTTH, the Capitol Hill Comedy Bar has canceled Dave Smith, Luis J. Gomez Jim Florentine, and Kurt Metzger’s performances.

Florentine posted an email he claims to have received from the management of the comedy club.

The email stated that “after careful consideration and discussion with our team and investors, local comics, and neighborhood advocacy group, we have encountered a difficult situation which requires us to reconsider the planned shows.” “Capitol Hill, a neighborhood known for its progressive values and values, has received a lot of feedback about these shows’ alignment with the neighborhood’s culture. These concerns come from local advocacy groups who are deeply rooted in our community and strive to uphold its values.

The club stated that “this decision was not taken lightly and we wanted to make sure it did not reflect negatively on your talent or the quality of your job, but rather reflected our commitment to the values of our community.”

The club wrote that they would refund tickets to guests who had already bought them and that they believe in “the art of comedy and its diverse perspectives.”

After their shows were canceled, the comedians took to social media and interviews to express themselves.

Florentine wrote: “I guess I need to clean my act up.” “My comedy show in Seattle is canceled.”

“I’m so sorry, but I can’t help it. This is just too funny to not immediately blast!” Metzger posted on X. “Also am I wrong that this club is located in Seattle’s historical “CHAZ” District? (Kurt turns his head towards heaven.) THANK YOU GEORGE FLOODY! After I have a quick s —! BRB!”

Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ), also known as the six-block area, was an area that activists took over in 2020 after George Floyd died.

Gomez’s response to his cancellation was flagged by 770KTTH.

Are they idiots to book us, and then cancel us? He said. “Yes, that’s a stupid move. My former agent booked me at an incredibly progressive, super-woke venue where the entire lineup is… like… blue-haired… freaks?

Gomez stated that jealous local comics could also have been the reason for their cancellation.

Seattle BLM Street Art – The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ), also known as the six-block area, was an area that activists took over in the wake of George Floyd’s demise.

He continued, “That’s the result when comics have nothing going on.” They just look for drama.”
