Pramila Jajapal (D. Washington) and Ilhan Oma (D. Minnesota) have both criticized the US embargo against communist countries.

Don Rosenberg explains his reaction to the murder by an undocumented alien of a nursing student in Georgia. He also explains why he blames Democrats for the weak border security.

A report published late Tuesday revealed that two of the House of Representatives’ most progressive Democrats took a group of people to Cuba to talk about “human rights” despite the border crisis affecting Americans back home.

Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., a member from the “Squad” of far-left, and Pramilia Jjajapal, DWash. Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus led a 12-person group, including a DCalif staffer in Rep. Barbara Lee’s office. According to a CPC spokeswoman, the group traveled to Havana, where they “met members of Cuban Civil Society, Government Officials, and Representatives of the U.S.

According to the Miami Herald, the trip wasn’t revealed by the participants or covered by Cuban media despite the U.S. embargo on the communist island nation.

Jayapal has also been critical of the embargo on Cuba. Both support normalizing relations between the U.S. and Cuba.

Left-wing House members are trying to warm to the authoritarian communist nation, as the U.S. continues to struggle with an illegal immigration flood that overwhelms local officials and communities along the southern borders as well as in cities across the country.

An illegal immigrant was charged this week with the murder of a 22-year-old Georgia college student who had disappeared while running on the campus of the University of Georgia.

Havana, Cuba on August 2, 2017.

Other members of Congress, such as Rep. Mike Waltz(R-Fla.) have criticized this trip. Waltz wrote in a blog on X that it’s “no surprise” Omar and Jayapal went to Cuba “to refresh their knowledge on communism”.

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-NY, wrote in her X-post: “All members of the media should refer to the Progressive Caucus by its more accurate name – the Congressional Communist Sympathizing Caucus. ”

It is absurd that Congress members would go to a country that jails, abuses, and murders their citizens and supports Iran and Communist China against our interests. “Perhaps they would have spent their time better listening to and learning from Cubans crossing our southern border in makeshift rafts at the risk of their lives, fleeing Communism,” she added.
