Michigan Bill Could Make ‘Wrong’ Pronoun Use a Felony

The Michigan House of Representatives passed a new bill making it illegal to intimidate someone by using the “wrong gender pronoun”. Under the new bill, offenders are “guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 5 years, or by a fine of not more than $10,000” — so-called “misgendering.”

The bill reads:

‘Intimidate’ means a willful course of conduct involving repeated or continuing harassment of another individual that would cause a reasonable individual to feel terrorized, frightened, or threatened, and that actually causes the victim to feel terrorized, frightened, or threatened.

The bill doesn’t define “harassment”.

If the bill becomes law in Michigan, it will criminalize making someone feel threatened with words. It will then be sent to Governor. If it passes the Michigan State Senate, Gretchen Whitmer will strain her hamstring signing it into law. ]

George Orwell, Ayn Ran, and others were unavailable for comment.

It is shocking to learn that the bill protects categories such as “sexuality”, “gender identity or expression” and “sexual orientation”.

To have, or to be perceived to have, or to be associated with gender identity is to either possess or to be perceived to possess or to associate oneself with a gender-related self-identity. This may or may not relate to the assigned sexuality of an individual at birth.

Perceiving that someone has a “gender-related self-identity or expression” whether or not this is connected to the gender assigned at birth. ”

Can you stop the “assigned at birth” nonsense, please? Not to sound like an old conservative, but I’m pretty sure that certain body parts were “assigned” before birth.

The Daily Wire published a report that said Distinguished Professor Emeritus William Wagner stated the bill is drafted to “destroy conservative expressions” and more.

Don’t be misled. Those who support these laws use them to silence conservatives and their views. Just look at the numerous cases that have been filed against people, schools, churches, and businesses. Their supporters use these laws to financially cripple those who hold different opinions and to silence them.

Wagner’s argument is not only true but also similar to the legalization in 2015 of same-sex marriages across all 50 US States after the Supreme Court ruled in Obergefell V Hodges, that marriage equality at the federal level should be recognized.

In no time, all hell broke loose. The city of Coeur d’Alene ordered two Christian ministers to perform same-sex weddings or face jail time and fines up to $1,000.

Wagner stated that under the law an accuser could claim that a conservative writer or pastor intimidated or harassed him or her because of his or her “perceived gender identity”.

Wagner said that intimidation or harassment can be determined by a prosecutor or an accuser. The bill’s language is the same as deciding if a criminal act has already occurred. I am not a Constitutional expert, but it appears to me that the scenario violates the U.S. Constitution’s due process requirements.

Angela Rigas is a Michigan State Representative. She said:

Michigan allows for the use of gender delusion in order to create “protected groups.” This creates a lot of issues in courts and continues to weaponize our system against conservatives.

The Dems want to tell the people what they should think.

In one respect I agree with Rep. Rigas, but not in the other. Democrats care about what conservatives think, say, do, and pretend to accept.
