Melania Trump, the former first lady of the United States, issued a statement calling for unity after a “monster,” who shot Donald Trump in an attempted assassination on Saturday and killed a rally attendee.

Melania Trump wrote on Twitter/X: “I’m thinking of you now, my fellow Americans.” She thanked those who remembered that “every single politician has a loving family.” Melania Trump said that she knew when she saw the bullet strike her husband Donald, that her family and son Barron were “on the brink of devastating changes,” and it was more important than ever that we remember that “love compassion kindness and empathy” are essential.

Melania began her statement by praising this nation and calling for unity. “We are a unique and special union. America, our nation’s fabric is frayed, but we must re-unite as one with our courage and sense of common sense.

It’s tragic that our nation has become so divided and that one party feels justified in accusing and insulting the other, causing violence like we saw yesterday.

“When I saw that violent bullet hit my husband, Donald, I knew my life and Barron’s were about to undergo a devastating change.” I am thankful to the brave secret agents and law enforcement officers who risked themselves to protect my husband.

She expressed her sympathy to the families of the victims (Corey Comperatore), or those injured, at the rally. “To the families who have suffered because of this horrific act, my deepest sympathy goes out to you.” Melania wrote: “I am saddened by your need to summon inner strength for a horrible reason.”

She stressed that Donald Trump was a real person and not just an apolitical figure. “A monster, who saw my husband’s inhumanity as a political machine, tried to bring out Donald Trump’s passion, his laughter, ingenuity, and love of music. Under the political machine, my husband’s human side was buried. Melania continued, “Donald is the kind and generous man I’ve been during the good times and bad.” She appears to have borrowed Charles Dickens’ iconic phrase from the book he wrote about the extreme political violence during the French Revolution. The book culminates with the murder of an innocent person.

Melania reiterated her call for unity, saying: “Let’s not forget that different opinions, policies, and political games, are inferior to love. The commitment we make to our personal, structural, and life goals – up until the end – is in grave danger. “Political concepts are easy when compared with us, humans,” she said. “We’re all human, and we instinctively want to help each other. American politics is only one way to improve our communities.” “Love, compassion, kindness, and empathy are essential.”

Let us not forget that we all came from families who fought for a better future together.

Dawn has returned. Let us reunite. Now.

Ascend above hate, vitriol, and simpleminded ideas that spark violence. We all want to live in a world of respect, where family comes first and love is universal. This world is attainable again. We must all demand it. Respect must be the cornerstone in our relationships once again.

Melania Trump concluded by saying, “I’m thinking of you my fellow Americans.” She also noted that “the winds of change are here.” “Thank you to those who have cried out in support. I commend you for reaching out beyond the political division – thank you for remembering that every politician is a person with a loving home.”
