It has been ten days since a potential assassin killed former fire chief Corey Comperatore and shot former president Donald Trump. Investigators continue to look for answers regarding the security failures that led to this horrible event. Now, more details are emerging, including videos.
Senator Chuck Grassley posted the bodycam video of an incident on Tuesday. Grassley deemed the footage “sensitive content”, so I have included a link to it, as well as the embedded video shared by other Twitter accounts.
In a tweet, Grassley stated:
Transparency leads to accountability Video obtained by Beaver Co Emergency Services Unit in response to a congressional request.
Grassley responded to the original tweet with a second one:
NEW My office has obtained docs from law enforcement on July 13 assassination attempt of Pres Trump I’m writing Secret Service Acting Dir Rowe & DHS Scty Mayorkas AGAIN 2get badly needed answers/clarity pic.twitter.com/LyQMzYGCkD

NEW I have received documents from law enforcement regarding the attempted assassination of President Trump that occurred on July 13. I am writing Secret Service Acting Dir Rowe and DHS Scty Mayorkas again to get badly needed answers/clarification
The attached letter from Grassley to Department of Homeland Security Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas, as well as the Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe state:
My office has requested that you send me the Secret Service operational safety plans and any documents related to the July 13th, 2024 campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania. Records were received regarding the location of the law enforcement units at the event. It also includes the Emergency Services Units of Butler County and Beaver County assigned to the AGR Building. This document is not accurate. Local law enforcement was responsible for covering the AGR Building. Secret Service records are required to better understand the security posture at this event.
The records that I obtained show also that a Secret Service Counter Unmanned Aerial System operator (UAS) was on the list for personnel assigned to the event of July 13th 2024. Then-Director Cheatle stated yesterday that “there are instances when the Secret Service uses an asset such as drones in a security plan.” The gunman was said to have used a drone equipped with video capability, which he could have used to plan.
In the letter, it is requested that additional documentation and information be provided by July 30
The bodycam video posted by Grassley is footage taken from the Beaver County Emergency Services Unit. It appears that four ESU officers are conversing with a male officer dressed in a suit (apparently Secret Service, or federal law enforcement), near the body of the shooter. A female officer is also on the roof but is not close to the group.
A police officer from ESU points at the rifle, which is a few feet away from the shooter.
The discussion is about whether or not the shooter rode a bike that was deemed “suspicious”. The bodycam officer believes the Beaver County sniper could be in the AGR Building. He tells the man wearing the suit to yell out “Greg” to him, claiming that he saw the shooter put down the bike just before he was lost.
The man in the suit said that the people on the other side were filming the officers. The man in the suit claimed that these people were filming officers (possibly Secret Service?) He also admitted that they might have been just fleeing because shots were fired.
The man in the suit confirms there were three victims, one dead and two who had been rescued. A radio call from an ESU agent is heard requesting that a drone “clear this tower”. ”

Six people are shown calmly (relatively) discussing the incident. The “sloped roof” explanation given by former Secret Service director Kim Cheatle as to why the roof was not secured is a ruse.
Cheatle’s resignation does not solve the problem. Many people, including Cheatle, have pointed out that this was a major failure. Grassley and others who are looking for answers will receive them, hopefully soon.
