Michelle Obama Strikes a Nerve: ‘Hope Is Making a Comeback’—But Where Was It All Along?

This week’s DNC was a welcome blast from the past. We were treated to speeches delivered by Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama and reminded of how pleasant it has been not to have them on the news every day.

Michelle Obama was also a big part of the show. Although her sycophantic Democratic fans and the media may compare her speech to the Gettysburg Address and Vogue might devote five more cover pages to her, I found it to be a divisive, angry, and race-baiting commentary, which proved why many people find her toxic. She spent the majority of the evening looking as if she wanted to punch someone.

It was one particular section that I found particularly interesting as she continued to cut into the backside of the man that Michelle’s husband Barack later called his “friend”, and said that selecting him as his Vice President was the “best decision” he ever made.

Here’s Michelle:

She said that hope is “a familiar feeling that has been buried for far too long.”

“Hope is making a comeback!” she enthused. Wait—where did it go in the first place?! Haven’t the Democrats been in power for the last three and a half years—and 11 ½ a half out of the last 16 years? Seeing that this is the case, how could it possibly make a comeback when the #2 person in the administration who caused its loss would be in charge if Michelle gets her wish?

It’s nonsensical.

Joe has been thrown in front of an oncoming freight train. If I wasn’t so disgusted by his terrible record and divisive remarks, I would almost feel sorry for Joe.

The rest of night 2 of the convention was similar: lots of talk about hope, but no acknowledgment that Kamala Harris has at least a part to play in the demise of this hope. There was almost no discussion about Harris’s record or what she might do as president.

Brit Hume, a Fox News commentator, beautifully slammed Michelle’s hypocrisy.

I cannot imagine someone with her life, as a graduate of Princeton and Harvard and First Lady of the United States. She has a beautiful house in Martha’s Vineyard, worth around $12 million, and a home in Hawaii. Why is she still searching for hope?

Well said. Joe Biden has just discovered that the Macbeths are no match for the Democrats when it comes down to power.
