George Orwell observed the perilous consequences for the family unit of unwavering allegiance to the state. In his novel 1984, the government erodes the sanctity of the family by turning children against their parents.
California is already experiencing this. Governor. Gavin Newsom has signed two bills that allow minors to hide abortions and transgender surgeries from their parents. The radical left is using Orwell’s novel 1984 to instruct them on how to attack parental rights, fracture families, and convince children that their parents do not have their best interests at heart.
Washington State has now followed suit. The Washington House approved Senate Bill 5599 on Wednesday. This bill allows the state to offer “shelter”, or a safe place, for minors who want an abortion or transgender procedure against their parents’ will.
SB 5599, which was approved by the Senate last month but with a few amendments, has now been passed on to the House. The bill will now be sent back to the Senate so that it can further discuss these changes. It’s impossible to think that this bill won’t be signed by the governor. Jay Inslee.
The Washington State Senate Democrats released a statement that stated, “This legislation provides meaningful choices for young people who do not have supportive family members at home. They will not end up in the streets but have shelter options instead when they seek this life-saving treatment.”
Current law requires licensed shelters to notify parents when a child enters their care unless there is a compelling reason to do so. This new legislation allows licensed shelters instead of notifying parents, to inform the Department of Children, Youth, and Families when minors seek abortions or want their bodies mutilated due to being transgender.
Washington Democrats support this proposal in a shameful way. It would allow parents to remove their children if they intervened to stop their children from making irreversible, life-changing decisions that the children aren’t mature enough to understand. It is a state-sponsored kidnapping that’s being done under the pretext of “saving lives” for transgender children.
We know that homeless youth are at risk of dangerous and harmful outcomes. Marko Liias (sponsor of the bill) said that we must do everything we can to protect their safety. This legislation provides safe housing options for trans youth who may not feel welcome in their homes.

It is a time of danger for families and children, as states with a leftist bent are trying to weaken parental rights and the foundational structure of the family. In an effort to appease the transgender movement, these states are pushing dangerous policies which harm vulnerable children. California and Washington have paved the way for government interference in the private lives and decisions of families.
