Elon Musk won’t be attending the Thursday session of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit (APEC), which is devoted to artificial intelligence (AI), anymore.
According to the online program of the conference, the APEC CEO Summit 2023 swapped out U.S. climate envoy John Kerry for one of the speakers in the “A Summit Spotlight: 1:1 Conversation on AI and the Future.”
The APEC 2023 CEO Summit stated that “Elon had a change in his schedule which prevented him from attending the APEC 2023 CEO Summit.” “We are grateful for his offer to participate remotely.” “However, all speakers agreed that participation would be in person.” “Elon will be joining us for a future APEC Chief Executive Summit.”
The conference has not made any changes to the other speaker. According to the conference, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff will speak as originally planned.
At 4:45 pm local time, he and Kerry will have an “armchair discussion”.
Musk was criticized for saying that a user of the X platform on social media “said what is true” when he claimed Jewish communities spread “hatred towards whites.” Musk also accused the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) of “unjustly attacking” the majority of Westerners because the ADL “cannot by their own tenets criticize minority groups that are their primary threats.”
The billionaire technologist made headlines on the same day about an upcoming SpaceX launch. The Federal Aviation Administration announced Wednesday that it had “granted license authorization for the Second Launch” of Starship.
SpaceX posted on X Thursday morning that the rocket had been loaded onto its pad. Musk tweeted later that the original Friday launch date would be pushed back by a day because of a “need to replace a grid fin actuator.”
SpaceX and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, was in San Francisco on Wednesday for the APEC CEO summit, after attending an event at which Chinese President Xi Jinping also attended.
APEC is also holding its Leader’s Meeting.
According to reports, the events related to APEC will bring San Francisco businesses and other local businesses a total of $53 million.
