Newsom Used Video of Crying Student in a Pro-Abortion Ad, She Reminds Him Those Were Tears of Joy

California Gov. Gavin Newsom ran an advertisement in support of abortion that featured a young woman crying outside the U.S. Supreme Court. The video appears to show the woman’s tears as a way to express grief at the Dobbs decision of the high court, which overturned Roe V. Wade and allowed the states to make new decisions about abortion.

However, there was nothing wrong with the woman’s response.

Contrary to what the voiceover says, “Panic” is the primary reaction, the woman who was seen crying was actually jubilant and overwhelmed by decades of pro-life prayers and efforts.

“Panic? Sad? Try ecstatic, blown away by God’s grace on this country,” tweeted Macy Petty, a pro-life activist and student at Lee University.

Petty is the woman who was grossly misrepresented by the Democratic governor’s anti-governor agitprop. It was posted to Newsom’s personal Twitter account and to the official California governor’s Twitter account.

She lashed out at Newsom for trying to retroactively turn her documented joy into anguish in order to promote state-sanctioned murder.

Petty posted a Jan. 21 statement to Instagram stating that “California governor Gavin Newsom used my image in one his political ads in yet again an attempt to show support for women.” He and pro-abortion Democrats have once again demonstrated to Americans that they don’t care about my voice as a female.

Petty stated that Newsom and his staff repeatedly tried to contact him, asking them to stop their pathetic mischaracterizations of me.

Petty said, “I don’t appreciate or consent to this type of treatment and belittling about who I am as an individual woman.” … Take my image out of your shameful ad, and stop treating pro-life women like me with disgraceful treatment.”

Newsom and supporters of Proposition 1 (including former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton) circulated a video campaign video in advance of the midterm elections. It used footage of Petty crying.

Petty also called them out at that time, noting: “In your election video, you cast me in an evil image and distorted my emotions as part of your political game.”

Pro-life activists and opponents of men in women’s sports also clarified that “As I continued witnessing history, I pondered on how fortunate I was to have witnessed such an event. I thanked God for this decision, and for opening my eyes to the evils of abortion. This was what brought me to my knees.

Clinton shared the deceitful video in which “SAD” was superimposed on the face of the student on Oct. 18.

Petty sent her a tweet a few days later saying, “Hey Hillary! I’m that girl in this video crying.” I’m pro-life, and these are HAPPY tears because it was a MIRACLE!

According to Petty, “I’m part of a generation of pro-life activists.” … My grandma and mom both worked in a pregnancy center. It’s in my blood. It was a great experience and I am so thankful to have been there. There were so many others who saw it before me.

Campus Reform reported that Petty partnered with California Family Council recently to bring down the Newsom administration.

The CFC issued a statement Monday, writing, “The California Family Council and Macy Petty are urging Governor Gavin Newsom to apologize for his act of defamation, remove the video from circulation, and never again use Macy Petty’s name to promote a pro-abortion stance.”
